We've Come A Long Way, Kitchenistas!

Hi there, Kitchenistas! Yes, Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen has many fans everywhere and they have a title. Kitchenistas represent our loyal fan base that love the community of the kitchen and the style of specialty coffee and cuisine.

We’ve come a long way over the past 34 years. I haven’t been with the brand for all of that time, but for more than 16 years, this great company has been a part of my everyday life. Some say I am an expert on all things Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen, and I certainly know my coffee after all this time!

Here’s a big-picture look at our development:

Many coffee industry veterans refer to the various coffee revolutions as “waves.” The first wave started many, many years ago and is called “consumption.” This was just the basic drinking of coffee as a way to energize throughout your day. This is when "Cup of Joe" became a turn of phrase, derived from GI Joes drinking coffee on news reports from WW II. 

Next came the second wave, commonly known as “enjoyment.” This is when coffee drinkers became educated about the possibilities of great coffee and discovered espresso drinks, such as cappuccinos and lattes. We were a significant part of the second wave of coffee – but we took it a step further.

The third wave of coffee is known as “appreciation.” This is a heightened sense of coffee origins, microroasts, sustainable practices, small farms and unique flavor profiles.

Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen is incredibly unique in that we have been a major change agent in the second and third waves of coffee. You can find enjoyment and appreciation in our selection of coffee and in our café experience.

Now is truly an exciting time for Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen.

When I joined the company in 1998, it was a whole different world. I can honestly say that we are better than we have ever been.

Our coffee is more available for coffee lovers across the nation than ever. You can shop for our coffee nationwide, our Zagat award-winning café concept in Winter Park, Florida – our flagship - is thriving, we are constantly developing new coffees, and our microroast coffee selection is one of the best in the world. We just launched our new website which makes shopping and learning about specialty coffee and cuisine enjoyable and effortless. I would love for you to explore and stay a while!

We are always thinking about coffee - and that means we are always developing new ideas about our coffee products. Because coffee drinkers are drawn to quality and convenience, we have developed a line of delicious single serve coffees. These capsules work in most major single serve brewers and bring the Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen heritage to every cup.

2014 will continue to be a year of news. Stay tuned for lots of new products and ways to add more of Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen to your everyday life.

  • Congratulations on your new blog – I lived in the Orlando area for years and loved your flavored coffees and when I moved up here to Virginia I was so happy to find some stores at our local malls – I know you went through reorganization a while back – we lost out stores – but hopefully they’ll be back up here – I’m turning a lot of people on to your coffee – I have friends that come up and bring coffee up every time – I was on the monthly plan for quite awhile – will be planning on getting back real soon – keep up the great work! Best coffees ever!!!
