Last week I had the pleasure of speaking at a 1 Million Cups (1MC) meeting at Rollins College here in Winter Park. 1MC is a great organization that strives to engage entrepreneurs in communities all over the world. These meetings occur weekly in various locations across the United States. At each meeting, local entrepreneurs give a presentation about their companies in front of other entrepreneurs, mentors and advisors in the community. Entrepreneurs gain insight into possible ways they can advance their businesses, collect feedback, connect with a community that truly values their progress and walk away feeling like they have improved their business.
Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen has been a long time sponsor of 1MC, providing our delicious coffee at the meetings. The theme for 1MC is coffee, which of course, goes perfectly with our business! I spoke about how my entrepreneurial efforts have transformed Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen right here in the Central Florida community. My presentation focused on three main entrepreneurial points: the meaning of “CoffeeKitchen,” how technology is advancing the impact of our store development, and how our highly differentiated new products, BREWSTICKS and CupUp, are accelerating growth.
The name, Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen, is very symbolic. We decided on the word “CoffeeKitchen” because we believe in treating coffee as food. Also, kitchen implies trusted conversations in a comfortable setting. It's a place that inspires innovation and creativity.
More and more people across the country are learning about Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen thanks to Google searches, Yelp, social media and our new website. All of these mediums provide information on our fantastic third wave coffee and farm-to-table cuisine. Thus, assisting with store development without actually having to build more stores across the country. Consumers get to experience our cafés in a virtual setting!
Our new products, BREWSTICKS and CupUp, just launched this summer. These two products allow you to enjoy an incredible cup of coffee in less than a minute, bringing patent pending innovation to the coffee category.
I really enjoyed presenting at this meeting and interacting with other local entrepreneurs who are doing wonderful things for the community. The team here at Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen is looking forward to a very successful rest of the year.
