Have you ever meet someone with such a bubbly personality you instantly fell head over heels? That’s what it’s like when you sip an espresso tonic for the first time. You’ll inevitably find yourself looking down at your glass and asking “Where have you been all my life?”
The idea of mixing espresso and tonic water may sound a little strange. But it’s an idea that’s been brewing for a while – and it’s quickly catching on.
Think of an espresso tonic as a fizzy, refreshing take on iced coffee. This espresso tonic recipe is proof that bubbles make everything better. One sip and you’ll be hooked!
Not to mention, it’s so simple to make.
- 6 oz. tonic water
- 2 oz. espresso
- Maraschino cherries
- Fill a glass with ice.
- Add tonic water.
- Slowly pour a double shot of espresso into glass. (Careful! The tonic water fizzes quickly and might bubble over if you pour too fast.)
- Add 1 tsp. cherry juice.
- Garnish with a maraschino cherry. (Or two!)
We used Tucano Espresso because the quinine in tonic water compliments the acidity of espresso nicely. But you can also substitute cold brew or regularly brewed coffee instead.
And if cherries aren’t your favorite, you can garnish the drink with a splash of lemon juice, a sprig of rosemary or mint leaves.
