GROWING OUR CENTRAL FLORIDA FOOTPRINT WITH NEW CAFÉS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA AND ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
The Orlando-Based Coffee Roaster to also Reimagine its Flagship Café in Winter Park with New Look and Menu
Barnie’s Coffee & Tea Co., the country’s original coffee house, is set to explore new grounds with new cafés at the University of Central Florida and the new Terminal C at Orlando International Airport, plus a remodel of its flagship Winter Park location early next year.
After pioneering the elevated coffee shop experience more than 40 years ago, Barnie’s Coffee & Tea Co. has focused on creating flavorful, carefully crafted roasts and blends along with its popular specialty coffees and teas available in select retailers in more than 30 states and online. The company also created Fueled by Barnie’s, a collection of partner-operated cafés that brings the beloved flavor Barnie’s is known for to select businesses in Central and North Florida.
“As an Orlando-born coffee roaster, we’re proud to continue to bring our flavors and roasts to more key places within our community,” said Scott Uguccioni, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer at Barnie’s Coffee & Tea Co.
The new cafés at the University of Central Florida and Orlando International Airport will be operated by Aramark and Master ConcessionAir respectively.

Set to open in January 2023, un-FILTERED, a Fueled by Barnie’s café, will welcome students at the University of Central Florida with a new space and exclusive blends and flavors created especially for the university.
“Aramark/UCF Dining Services is pleased to partner with Barnie’s un-FILTERED through the Local Restaurant Row program. This initiative allows UCF faculty, staff, and students to experience culinary innovations from local entrepreneurs from around the Orlando area within the convenient location of the John C. Hitt Library,” said Wendy Shively, Resident District Manager for Aramark.
With a comfortable, modern and warm space for students, faculty and staff to caffeinate and refuel, the café will be located inside the John C. Hitt Library at the main campus, and will feature three exclusive blends: a Knightro Blend dark roast, a Knightro Blend medium roast and the chocolate-and-caramel-flavored UCF Pegasus blend.
Anne Valdez, UCF alumni turned specialty coffee expert with more than 30 years in the industry, led the process to create the Knightro blends. The dark roast brings out a floral aroma and sweetness, featuring beans from Indonesia, Central and South America; while the Knightro blend medium roast features lemon and blueberry notes, with Ethiopian, Central and South American beans. Students, employees, alumni and visitors can enjoy these exclusive blends at the new café or to take home.
Barnie’s will donate a portion of the proceeds back to the university for every Knightro Blend coffee bag sold to support programs that help students with food insecurities.
