If you have been scrolling through TikTok recently, you may have seen the latest recipe trend that’s ideal for these super hot, humid days.
Have you heard of the Cracked Latte that's gone viral? We heard, we tried it with Barnie's Coffee, and now we want to share the recipe with all of YOU!
Meet the cracking latte: a DIY iced latte surrounded by a hard chocolate shell. It sounds delicious, and it’s so satisfying to hear the *crack* of the shell when gently squeezing the plastic cup. It's way too good not to share.
Here's what you need:
- ¼ cup of Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Flavored Melting Wafers - You can use white or dark chocolate chips, pretty much anything that melts well, but these were so delicious
- 2 shots of Espresso (We used Santa's White Christmas single serve pods)
- 1 cup of Whole Milk or your milk of choice (could be oatmilk or almond)
- 2 tablespoons of Torani Sugar Free Vanilla Syrup (we used Vanilla syrup but you can use whatever you prefer: hazelnut, vanilla or whatever you choose and like)
- Ice
- 1 Plastic Cup
This refreshing and versatile beverage pairs well with all types of foods, making it perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even an afternoon treat.
Steps to make your taste buds go VIRAL:
1. Start by brewing your favorite Barnie's Coffee. Set aside to chill.
2. Melt the chocolate wafers, then line your plastic cup with chocolate. Yum! Pour your chocolate into the cup and swirl around horizontally. Set aside to chill. Literally.
3. We sped up the procress and placed it in the freezer for a few seconds. Once your chocolate shell is ready, add ice cubes to the chocolate cup, then add your 2 shots of brewed chilled Barnie's Santa's White Christmas Coffee, add in the flavored syrup of your choice, then add your milk and see the really cool effect.
After all ingredients are in your cup, squeeze lightly to make the "cracked" effect. The satisfying snapping sound filled the room, and we watched the chocolate shell break apart through the clear plastic.
