WINTER PARK, Fla., an internationally recognized ICMA Excellence Award winner with accredited fire-rescue, police and parks & recreation agencies (July 11, 2016) – Tuesday, July 12, 2016 marks the one-month date since the tragedy at Pulse nightclub.  As our community continues to recover, the City of Winter Park will host#OrlandoUnited, A Winter Park Tribute on the one-month anniversary, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., in Central Park located in downtown Winter Park.
#OrlandoUnited, A Winter Park Tribute will feature:
  • Live entertainment by Orlando Big Band
  • Remarks by Winter Park Mayor Steve Leary; Florida State Senator Geraldine F. Thompson, District 12; Florida House Representative Mike Miller, District 47; and Winter Park Police Chief Brett Railey
  • The lighting of 49 Globes of Light above the Emily Fountain in honor of the 49 lives lost
In response to the need for blood donations, the OneBlood bus will be on Morse Boulevard from 2 to 7 p.m. Walk-ins are welcomed, however, appointments are still available by visiting and using sponsor code 35237. Donors will receive free admission passes to The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany.
Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen® will be accepting donations to the OneOrlando Fund that was created by the City of Orlando, and is administered by the OneOrlando Board to directly support the victims’ families and survivors of the Pulse tragedy.
In addition, members of the Park Avenue Merchants Association will host a Shop & Share event to benefit the Better Together Fund at the Central Florida Foundation. The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce announced Friday it will match member contributions dollar for dollar up to $5,000. The Better Together Fund supports the non-profits that are supporting survivors and families, the LGBTQ, Hispanic and other affected communities, and future needs in the form of grants.
Orlando Big Band has graciously donated their time and talent for this tribute and have been representing the Big Band Era of the 30s, 40s and 50s for the past four years. Orlando Big Band wows audiences with its dedication to the classic charts and sounds that pulled America through some of the toughest years on record. This time in America is no exception.
Special thanks to Barnie’s CoffeeKitchen for lighting the way for this event and to our print partners Triangle Reprographics Inc. and American Graphix Solutions.
